Philip Chrystal

Philip Chrystal specialises in aviation and space insurance and reinsurance law. He brings extensive in-house experience in reviewing coverage, the liability of aviation insureds together with the handling of both hull and liability claims across all categories of aviation lines of business in addition to insured satellite losses.
- Combining over three decades of experience in the area of aviation law primarily engaged in aviation insurance and reinsurance having worked for more than 28 years for the Swiss Reinsurance Company in Zurich.
- Philip possesses the unique distinction of having worked both as an underwriter and for the greater part of his career, as a senior claims manager and legal expert in the area of aviation and space, handling some of the most significant aviation and space losses over the past decades.
- He is also a well-known speaker at industry conferences, author of numerous articles and publications, co-editor of the most recent edition of "Margo on Aviation Insurance", a co-editor of "Shawcross and Beaumont Air Law" and a former Chairman of the Legal and Claims Study Group within the professional aviation insurance association, the International Union of Aerospace Insurers in London.
- Philip holds a BCom and LLB from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and an LLM in air and space law from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
